Three Ways to Foster Employee Engagement That Boost Your Organization’s Performance

According to Inc. Magazine, “The purpose of HRM (Human Resource Management) is to maximize the productivity of an organization by optimizing the effectiveness of its employees.” However, to successfully optimize workers, your HR department must do more than manage surface-level responsibilities such as training, recruiting, and evaluating. Your HR department should assist in cultivating a work environment within your organization that engages your workers to allow for peak performance.

Discover strategies to enhance your organization’s work environment and spark stronger engagement in your office.

Research by McKinsey & Company revealed that when employees are intrinsically motivated, they show 46% higher levels of job satisfaction and 32% greater levels of commitment to their jobs. Intrinsic motivation is highly beneficial and is cultivated in several ways.

One way is by encouraging autonomy. While it may be challenging to give your employees free rein on what projects they must accomplish, allow them the freedom to create their timeline. Additionally, consider prioritizing explaining the ‘why” when administering tasks. Doing so illuminates the purpose of the task at hand, making clear the overarching impact of the employee’s role in the project. Finally, never fail to give credit where credit is due. Global studies have proven that proper recognition and appreciation may be a stronger currency for motivation than higher pay, promotion, or training.

Encouraging creative thinking can do wonders to both an individual employee and their organization by helping to spark engagement and innovation. A common misconception is that being creative is a genetic trait that you are born with or aren't, but this isn't the case. Quoting David Kelley, founder of design consulting company IDEO, “Creative confidence is like a muscle—it can be strengthened and nurtured through effort and experience”

Try creating a workplace environment that strengthens your employee’s creative muscles. Make your offices brainstorm-friendly by investing in white boards, module furniture, or even building blocks or logos as a tool for prototyping. Furthermore, prioritize highlighting individuality. Recognize that diversity sparks not only engaging conversation but eye-opening ideation. When hiring new employees, assess what their unique identity could untraditionally bring to your organization. Finally, support your employees' ideas. The 20% Project by Google allows employees to allocate twenty percent of their paid work time to pursue personal projects. Consider how your organization could incorporate similar ways for your employees to test their ideas and take risks.

A Harvard Business Review survey revealed 58 percent of people say they trust strangers more than their boss. Ensure this isn't the case for your employees by employing initiatives to strengthen office relations. Emphasize an open-door policy to make approaching coworkers less intimidating. Consider organizing lunches, team-building activities, or happy hours. Additionally, provide conversation starters to help facilitate collaboration between colleagues, such as “in the office” update emails highlighting colleague’s successes. Another option is offering one-on-one check-ins with your employees. Carving out time for you to learn about your employees individually will help them feel heard and more than just a department member.

As RJ Reliance designed our blueprint for 2022, we remained captivated by the business world's paradigm shift developing over the past couple of years, applying our collective understanding to assess what worked and what did not accurately. By managing any shift from post-pandemic variations and ever-changing expectations, RJ Reliance continuously verifies that our clients remain educated and focused on the five significant pillars of the digital economy: human resource management, innovation, security strategy, data architecture, and business process controls and internal audits. Ultimately, ensuring that our clients continue to transcend within their respective industry verticals and realize operational excellence with the deployed digital transformation strategies focused on technology and advancement.

Technology advancement is relentless and constant, but newly paired with the great resignation stemming from the pandemic's demand that businesses have an agile response to the workforce's call for autonomy and flexibility, with one in seven jobs being remote now. The overwhelming consensus is that businesses must evolve to this change or be left behind by the competition, employees, and customers. As mentioned in RJ Reliance's blog post from earlier this year covering the sale of Dell Boomi, "…change is a constant. RJ Reliance recognizes whether anticipated, unexpected, good, or bad, change is a catalyst for growth; resisting change stunts growth, and without growth, there is no resilience to adversity. For a business to solidify resilience with realized growth, immediate focus must be placed on the connectivity between its people, processes, and technology." While processes, methodologies, and tools vary for each business, RJ Reliance is the comprehensive HR technology provider that can deliver tailored solutions to ensure that your business flourishes in this ever-evolving digital economy. Reach out today to discover how RJ Reliance can deploy advancement through change while simultaneously guiding and supporting your business every step of the way! Here's to a prosperous 2022!

Using Data to Manage Your Workforce

Many factors play into having the most efficient workforce and it can become overwhelming to keep track of all employees, departments, and teams. Luckily, automated technologies can monitor this all for you, providing you with actionable insights into all aspects of your workforce. These insights are essential to ensuring your business is running as efficiently as possible and able to produce the best outcomes for the lowest cost.

The first step in creating an efficient workforce is being knowledgeable about your current resources. Using technology, you can easily monitor current employees, planned hires, interns, and more. This not only allows you to evaluate the performance of current employees, but also identifies areas that operate more efficiently with more or less employees. By identifying these weak areas, you can address them quickly and easily. This ensures each of your departments is consistently operating at maximum productivity levels.

Furthermore, the recent shift to working from home provides unique opportunities for companies to hire employees from different geographic locations. This can cause some confusion as employees may be in different time zones, making it difficult to connect with colleagues who may not be working at the same time. By consolidating all information about your workforce into one centralized integrated system, employee time zones can be easily identified and accessed and tasks can be planned accordingly.

While monitoring the current status of your workforce, technology also provides the opportunity to forecast for the future. Not only can you access planned hires, but you can model many future scenarios to predict costs and impacts of different hiring possibilities and opportunities. This ensures that you are making the best decisions for your business, based on real data and insights.

RJ Reliance can provide you with the technology to streamline your workforce management. Our Virtual Practitioner is trained to complete tasks that would otherwise be manually input and serve as a helping hand in all your company’s needs. Through integrating these processes, RJ Reliance can help you ensure you are being cost efficient while maintaining the most productive workforce. Capitalize On Top Talent Today with AI Technology

According to a survey conducted by Ideal, 52% of Talent Acquisition leaders say the most challenging part of recruitment is screening candidates from a large applicant pool. With an extensive list of candidates and traditionally limited resources to recruit, it can be difficult for companies to find top talent that is right for their organization. That is where AI comes in to help.

AI for recruitment is utilizing artificial intelligence in the talent acquisition process, automating manual tasks and streamlining the recruiting workflow. AI recruitment software leverages your applicant tracking system (ATS) data to generate insights regarding your talent pool. It can also help reduce bias by blind screening candidates while also shedding light on attributes of past successful candidates who have continued to remain in your organization. Many predict that finding top talent will depend on a recruiter’s ability to intelligently automate their workflow and unearth insights into their talent pool during the next few years.

There are many benefits to AI recruitment technology, including saving the recruiter’s time and resources, improving the quality of hires, and automating the high-volume tasks this process traditionally encompasses. Using AI for recruitment enhances the quality of new hires through job matching, which in turn leads to happier and more productive employees. According to the survey conducted by Ideal, companies that implemented this technology saw a 35% decrease in turnover, a 20% increase in performance, and a 4% increase in revenue.

For the successful implementation of AI for recruitment, be prepared to hurdle a few challenges. For one, accurately mimicking human behavior in AI requires data that companies may not have. Furthermore, while technology is usually less biased than humans, by feeding the system “past successes,” you could, in turn, be continuing unconscious biases against a particular gender or race just because of “who” you are teaching the technology the “success” case to be. It is essential to continually monitor the system to make sure no patterns of potential unconscious bias arise. Finally, there is always going to be some skepticism surrounding new technology by HR professionals. Not everyone will be as willing to embrace the unknown and change the traditional recruiting process. These concerns all need to be addressed to ensure success.
