Account Executive

We are currently seeking an experienced and motivated individual to be our next Account Executive and join our growing team headquartered in Chicago, IL. This position is fully remote; however, you must be located in the Chicagoland area or willing to relocate.  Must be able to attend local / regional events and client site visits and travel up to 20% once covid restrictions are lifted.

About the Role:

This Account Executive is responsible for the following:

  • Identify potential customers, initiate, and manage prospects through the sales pipeline, and close opportunities

  • Establish, develop, and maintain positive business relationships to ensure future sales

  • Research and deliver information to guide prospects through the decision-making process

  • Partner with internal experts and pre-sales resources to develop solution proposals

What you'll do:

Core duties and responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned by management.

  • Lead Generation

    • Use leads to close new business to sustain company growth

    • Maintain a sales funnel of targeted accounts by leveraging internal and external resources

    • On site client qualifying meetings, prospecting, and cold calling.

    • Competently represent RJ Reliance value proposition to prospective clients.

    • Consistently track all activities in CRM system.

  • Relationship management

    • Establish relationships with clients to expand service offerings and achieve growth.

    • Maintain relationships with internal resources to gain industry knowledge and obtain referrals and new business opportunities

    • Facilitate existing client discussions to assess current strategy, financials, and client dashboards

  • Goals and Quotas

    • Close on opportunities to Consistently exceed your sales targets

    • Comprehensive account management that includes account planning and sales forecasting

  • Communication Methods

    • Conduct in-person and virtual (video) meetings with clients as well as telephone calls.

    • Proactively anticipate qualifying questions to create value, meet client needs and increase sales.

  • Network

    • Attend networking events in person or virtual to generate new business.

    • Create RJ Reliance brand awareness and presence in the business community through attending conferences and other events.

    • Leverage and expand your professional network through association memberships, industry contacts, trade groups, and peers

Our Perfect Candidate

Education and Experience:


  • Prior sales experience for a firm or department specializing in integrations, delivery, and automation software/services

  • Experience with B2B consultative and cold calling, strategic sales

  • Experience selling to enterprise-scale clients and executive audiences

  • Ability to work independently and as a member of a team, mentoring and providing direction to others

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience

  • Ability to travel up to 20%


  • Experience in fields of technology, HR, payroll, accounting, and/or finance

  • Knowledge of cloud applications and Software as a Service (SaaS) solutions

  • CRM ( knowledge preferred

  • Proven relationship building and client service skills

Abilities and Skills:

  • Self-motivated hunter/farmer who is competitive, commission-oriented, and determined to exceed goals

  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to multi-task in a fast-paced environment, managing multiple sales engagements concurrently

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills

  • General Sales:

    • Proven ability to develop, shape, and close business opportunities with total contract values of $1M or more

    • Demonstrates proven closing techniques and client strong relationship-building skills

    • Combination of product and services knowledge and selling skills

    • Skilled at persuading and influencing decision makers; ensure that rates are in line with RJ Reliance and market standards

    • 2+ years of closing sales experience

  • Lead Generation:

    • Business development experience demonstrated through a combination of calling, writing, and interpersonal skills

    • Ability to independently generate business development opportunities and lead business opportunity campaigns

    • Cold calling experience

  • Quotas:

    • Proven history of consistently achieving quotas and targeted objectives

    • Documented award-winning performance is preferred

  • Account Types:

    • Demonstrated track record of successfully entering into and developing mid-market and/or national accounts (mid-sized to Fortune 1000 corporations)

    • Manages relationships with senior-level executives
